2002-2006
Older Work
This body of work began my senior year at Northern Arizona University. It showcases the cultures of Mexico and South America that I had fallen in love with while living and traveling among them. The bold brushstrokes and vivid colors reflect my impressions of warm and welcoming peoples and harsh landscapes lush with beauty. Many paintings depict the migrant farmworkers throughout Mexico. The highlight from this period of my work was being featured by Southwest Art magazine in their annual "21 Under 31" article focused on 21 artists under the age of 31 who had promising careers. My painting, "Cuando El Día se Cansa", the first one below, was chosen for the cover.
